Service Description

Held twice yearly in May and October, this immersive four-week programme is for anyone ready to turn a love of flowers into a confident and considered career in floral design. Whether you are starting afresh, developing an existing creative practice or preparing to open your own flower business, the course provides the practical skills, creative direction and commercial insight needed to take the next step. Led by Laura Elze, Creative Director of Zita Elze Flowers, the programme is shaped by the Academy’s distinctive botanical approach to floral design. Laura trained closely with her mother, Zita Elze, and has run the successful Zita Elze Flowers shop for the past six years. Students benefit from her current, hands-on experience of creating flowers for everyday clients, celebrations, weddings and events, as well as running a contemporary flower business. Through demonstrations, guided practice and personal tuition in a small studio setting, you will progress from essential floristry techniques to more ambitious design work. You will explore seasonality, colour, proportion, hand-tied bouquets, vase arrangements, weddings, events and larger-scale floral pieces, while developing an individual design language informed by texture, movement and botanical detail. No previous experience is required. The programme is suitable for complete beginners, career changers, aspiring florists and creative professionals wishing to develop a strong practical foundation in floral design. Teaching is tailored to each student’s experience, ambitions and creative development.
